Above is a playlist for you to get in the Christmas Spirit! I most certainly am. Loud family, food, singing along to the radio, hellish shopping centres, Christmas activities, buying gifts. I love buying gifts especially, I find it really enjoyable. When I was little my Dad would always be too busy with work and have to do his Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve and my sisters and I would go with him to the *big* shopping centre or even to the *big smoke*. I specifically remember one year where Dad asked me to pick out a lipstick for Mum and I would have been about 6. The one I chose was a really dark almost gothic red that I thought she'd like... We'd wait politely behind Dad at the perfume counters, shadow him through the crowds, sales assistants would comment on either a) How quiet and good I was being or b) My hair colour.
Although an anxious child, looking back I kind of enjoyed these rushed family bonding sessions, and now I really enjoy taking the train alone into the city really close to Christmas and doing my Christmas shopping. There's a great energy in the city a few days before Christmas. If you remain positive and not stressed about the whole thing, it's actually really enjoyable. The world doesn't end if you don't get the perfect gift for someone, what's important is spending time with people and being thankful that they're actually there for you to buy gifts for you know. Christmas is supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable and this year I am adamant in keeping it that way!
