Sister Faith
I take a class at Uni called 'Genius' that both fascinates and disturbs me. It comes under the umbrella of Art History but we watch intense cult films and entertain ridiculous notions of connections between them and contemporary Art. It's kind of indescribable, actually - it has to be experienced.
Anyway a few weeks ago we watched a film from 1981 called 'Posession'. It really did disturb me incredibly. Upon reflection, given a bit of distance from the gore - it was an absolutely out of this world film. A good film will stick with you for the rest of your life, not just visually but emotionally - positively or detrimentally. It will stick with you almost as if you lived through that experience. I can't stop thinking about it, in particular Isabelle Adjani's performance as Anna - it's haunting me. A particular scene I enjoyed I posted above.
Definitely NOT a film I would have watched off my own back, but this class is pushing me out of my 1970s Woody Allen-ish romantic comedy genre to something a little more arresting. Watch at your own risk because I can see this film sticking with me for as long as I live, almost, shall I say - POSSESSING ME..
